Based on my relatively modest knowledge, there are three categories of 3. hitch--Cat.0, Cat.1, and Cat.2. The vast majority of compact tractors have Cat.1 hitches. Cat.0 are found on garden-tractor-esque machines and Cat.2 are on the big honkers with GPS, CD players and seventy-'leven foot discs. So the vast majority of 3. implements are compatible with Category 1 hitches--and all Category 1 implements will fit any Category 1 3. hitch. ....

ggman, three point hitches and implements are divided by category. "0" is the smallest and usually found on lawn and garden tractors. "1" is the size on most compact tractors and smaller utility tractors. "2" & "3" is found on larger farm tractors. Hopefully this answers your question. As long as the implement is category "1" and the weight of the implement is within the reccomended lift capacity of your tractor, it should fit your compact tractor. ....

Here are a couple of variations on the preceding posts. In addition to the CAT 0 - 3 hitches, I believe the old Fords (e.g. the 8N) have their own size, and they probably should be called CAT F. I don’t know if the pins are larger or smaller than CAT 1, but I imagine sleeves are available so the old Fords can use current CAT 1 or 2 implements. There also is a CAT 1N (narrow). The pin size for CAT 1 is standard, but the arm width isn't entirely standard. I think the Kubota BX uses a narrow hitch that limits use of some CAT 1 implements. Despite the standards, implements often can be swapped across classes. Some implements have bolt on pins, and can be fitted with CAT 1 or 2 pins. Sleeves are available for CAT 2 loops that size them down to CAT 1. ....

There is Cat 0,1,2,3 and four. Unfortunatly there is no relationship from catigory to hitch width. Diferent manufacturer's use different width's often trying to get there machine to fit more than one size hitch by just changing the pins. We as a dealer are often as frustrated as the purchasers are because of this. Best bet is to shop with a tape measure to make sure you are buying an attachment that works with your tractor. ....

I have purchased several King Kutter cat.1 implements and have noticed that some are wider than the others which makes it tough to get the arms out around the pins. However, I was able to find some cat.1 pins at a local farm store that were a little shorter and made it easier to pull the arms out around the pins. ....
